Pupil Premium Information

Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is an additional payment, paid to school, for pupils who fall into the following categories:

  • Pupils who are eligible for free school meals or who have been eligible for free school meals in the last six years.
  • Pupils who are currently looked after by a Local Authority.
  • Pupils whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces.

Objectives for using the extra funding provided through the pupil premium grant.

  • The Pupil Premium will be used to provide additional educational support to improve the progress and to raise the standard of achievement for pupils
  • The funding will be used to narrow and close the gap between the achievement of pupils who are socially disadvantaged and their peers
  • We ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils are adequately assessed and addressed
  • In making provision for socially disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged
  • We also recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. We reserve the right to allocate Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or groups the school has legitimately identified as socially disadvantaged.
  • Pupil Premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority classes, groups and individuals. Limited funding and resources means that not all children receiving free school meals will be in receipt of pupil premium interventions at one time
  • Part of the funding may be used to promote wider outcomes for children such as increasing the range of educational activities available to pupils. This may include extra trips/visits or extra resources (including ICT programs).
